As I’ve mentioned before, my stepmom’s been major busy with a few projects of her own in the run up to this holiday season. In addition to the usual things like trimming not one but two massive trees at home, planning for rounds of festive soirees at home, and becoming a godma to little Luca, she’s somehow managed to find the time to put together this lovely showcase for her dear friend, Cameron Silver.
Now if you know nothing about Cam, let me take a moment to tell you a little more. He is the curator of all things vintage fabulous. He can be credited for bringing the world of vintage couture back from the ash heap of history and straight to the forefront of fashion, dressing hollywood celebs and socialites alike in his decadent, one-of-a-kind finds. Imagine that, you’ll never have to suffer the horror of turning up to an event with someone else in the same dress again!
Time Magazine named him one of the “25 Most Influential Names and Faces in Fashion,” though I think the true benchmark of fashion fame comes when Hermès creates and names a bag (the “Cameron”) after you (ala Jane Birkin and Grace Kelly).
So if you’d like a chance to get to know this ingenious and inspiring man a little better
Coco Chanel once said “elegance does not consist in putting on a new dress.” And if I make take the liberty to complete her sentence, it comes when you adorn an immaculately tailored dress of superior quality…and that very often only happens when it’s a vintage piece.
As the new crop of Fall fashion magazines illustrates, nothing looks more in vogue than what was most recently considered passe. Designers have always turned to the past for inspiration, but as fashion cycles seem to get shorter (I mean OMG, can the 80s really be back already?), truly dedicated followers of fashion are adandoning trends entirely, sourcing for quintessential vintage collections.
On that note, I hope you would join me in welcoming a close friend of mine, Cameron Silver, owner of Decades and Decadestwo from LA, and the Decades branch in London within Dover Street Market, to Singapore!
Named one of Time magazine’s “25 Most Influential Names and Faces in Fashion”, Cam has a midas touch when it comes to fashion. He has dressed A-list celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez in upscale vintage designs and contributes to Harpers Bazaar UK, among other magazines.
Join us for a cocktail on December 12th at the beautifully appointed Solange Boutique in Ngee Ann City (where I have been told some amazing jewelry will be flown in specially for this event!) , or if you prefer a private session with Cameron, we have the following appointment slots available:
Dec 13th : 11am, 2pm and 4.30pm
Dec 14th : 11am and 2pm
In Cameron’s own words, “can’t wait to be in Singapore Cindy! Are they ready for me? If so, I promise to bring chewing gum!” Now, doesn’t that sound like a plan? Hope to see you soon.
If you’d like in on the event or a private session with Cam to peruse the beautiful pieces he’s brought in (vintage Chanel, Alaia, Yves Saint Laurent, and more), kindly drop me an email at
